The Cousins

1883

443 x 278 mm

The model for this etching was the watercolour of the same name, created the previous year in Cádiz, Andalusia. It depicts the daughter of the painter Professor Ramon Rodriguez, with whom Zorn was allowed to live and work during his stay in Cádiz, and her cousin.

The watercolour was accepted for the Seventh Impressionist Exhibition in Paris (Paris Salon) in 1882, where it brought Zorn his first international success.
